The Beginning of my career~

Learning Journal of Sekolah Tamil Ladang Semenyih :)

Oh~~~ My Brilliant Honorable Guests Welcome Again to HERE!!! Aha~

Since I am coming back from my holiday, I have been through new journey of life which one of it is  going to school and do some ACTUAL TEACHING!!! Which for your information I have been craving for and my target is especially primary little cutie students~

Ehemmm....

So,....well let me tell you MY STORY OF REFLECTION (MIRROR~MIRROR)~

"The Experience is such as The Furniture's completing the Desirable Living Room For Me~" Aha~ -By Me-
Four consecutive memorable days which 3 of them are spending with the students in school while the last one in our university~

Une Memoir~
[Beau Contact]

First steps to school wondering whether the teaching plan and lessons would suits the students taste. My Feelings for that day as such a mixture of spices to make a fantastico~ sauce. The feelings of spiciness and bitter sweet flavors center my life at that moment. Well, let's come back to reality now ;).

Teaching as a teacher to primary students in this case, Grade 6 allows me to experience a lot of opportunities that will prepared my expectation in the future. Throughout the journey, I get to know the students, their school and classroom environment, culture and how the students learn more deeply.

There are a lot of factors to be taken care on especially one of them is how I need to address the issues of learners differences in terms of ethnicity and culture differences (social class) when planning the lesson plan and conducting my teaching strategies. Since this is Tamil school where majority of the school community is Indian, their culture of communication school and classroom environment are different in account to the students social class as well. Majority of the students and teachers used to communicate in Tamil language whether outside or inside classroom therefore, the use of English language is only restricted during English language class and this lead to students have quite low English level in terms of writing, reading and communication.

Hmm...so being a teacher, you need to be aware of these factors because it is important so that we can relate better with our students. While planning the lesson plans, I need to be cautious not to touch matter that can be considered sensitive in Indian culture. Which means, I need to know and update my knowledge about Indian society culture in Malaysia so I can transfer the knowledge to my sweet students in a way they can understand in culture context. Moreover, the activities created must be correlation to Grade 6 curriculum in Malaysia and also something that students can relate to daily life when especially you give examples that related to the content. For instance, majority of the students are from middle and working class in social class stratification so it is common sense not to give example of "What can we recycle Prada bag into?" while learning as they don't really have the experience on the item okay. It will be much better to use common example such as "What can we recycle tissue box into?" because then all the students can participate in discussion session.

Despite all this factors, students learned best by more hands on activities because in this age they are more an active learner and also what we can relate is that students have different learning styles which in previous blog we talk about VAK (Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic) and therefore creating activities for learning need to include active body movement to make the students to remember what they learned because from my observation this way improve students memory and their meta-cognition too (meta-cognition: thinking about thinking). Teaching and creating activities required higher thinking of critical and creative skills too where we need to ensure students do make progress in their learning through appropriate assessment. Appropriate assessment is according to students English level where perhaps students with lower ability in reading for instance will be given simple text t read yet not too SIMPLE because they need to progress from their level, we don't want them to stuck at their level, do we...  So......hmm...I used a lot of so...okay...So...my dear LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, to become a good teacher, one must have the experience, knowledge and skills to handle the students and they need meet the students need too. Which means, RESPECT YOUR TEACHER when they are trying to help you improve your learning, COOPERATION with YOURSELF-CONTROL is a MUST !!! :) Okay ~ It will be better when you have the experience of becoming the teacher yourself because that way you will really know that being a teacher need a very big courage, patients and understanding to teach people.

That is all for today, what I can conclude here is that first of all knowing your students, social culture especially and ethnicity will eventually helps you to plan your lesson plans accordingly. More than ever, the activities that correlated to students ethnicity and social culture will broaden ways of teachers strategies to teach. My dear Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for making your time to read my blog and please do visit again. I hope we can learned something from the STORY OF beginning of MY LIFE~

ADIOS~
